Adrian Gonzalez goes deep as Sox pound Rangers

Adrian Gonzalez

Gonzalez rounds the bases after his first inning home run

Slump? What slump?

Adrian Gonzalez hadn’t hit a home run in 22 games (84 at-bats) entering last night’s

contest in Arlington.  But he slugged two Tuesday en route to an 11-5 win over the Rangers.

His first blast of the night, number 19 of the year, came in the first off Texas starter Colby Lewis; Jacoby Ellsbury, who missed the last three games, was on base following a lead-off single.  Gonzo’s second homer, twentieth of the season, was a solo shot in the fourth against Lewis.

John Lackey got the win for Boston, allowing four earned runs in 6.2 innings.  The performance lowered his ERA to 5.98.  Marco Scutaro also had three RBI for the Sox.
