Reports of Matt Light’s demise are greatly exaggerated. Multiple reports indicate the three-time pro-bowler is scheduled to re-up with New England later today.
Light, entering his eleventh year as a pro out of Purdue, has been the only left tackle QB Tom Brady played behind, and has started in all four of New England’s Super Bowl appearances in the past decade.
Some questioned whether Light would return when the Pats drafted Colorado tackle Nate Solder 17th overall in this year draft. Solder still hasn’t signed his rookie deal, and, barring injury to Light or all-pro right tackle Sebastian Vollmer, he likely won’t see significant playing time this season.
