The Cleveland Indians acquired pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez from the Colorado Rockies for 4 prospects including 2 of their top prospects.
The deal will definitely help Cleveland down the stretch as Jimenez gives them a top of the rotation pitcher with grade A stuff as they make the final playoff push.
The only thing that confuses me here is that the Indians are still pieces away from being world series contenders and its highly unlikely they will be there this year or next. Yet they still traded major prospects to acquire Jimenez, who has had issues of late. It’s a move I would have expected from a team closer to winning a world series, but overall could pay huge dividends if Jimenez turns around his season.
